So bored..

Okay, so I should be studying, but why do that, the papers and tests are due for another two or three weeks. We’ve talked about this before, but not sure if anyone has ever done it. What sites or blogs do you guys visit regularly for your political, not that SSP isn’t great, but I visit it like 8 times a day, and there is only so much you can read. Any sites are good, as long as they have good information. Don’t mind conservative, as long as they’re not idiots… I know, good luck, right?

Where does everyone get their fix? Please, help me out.

  1. politicalwire of course, mydd, kos, 538, cagle.com (political cartoons) chris cilliza’s blog, politico, google news.

  2. Kos, Senate Guru, FiveThirtyEight.com are the ones besides SSP I go to.

Then there’s my own (see signature), which links up to Liberals Online, a collection of Canadian Liberal bloggers mostly.

As for conservative blogs, I frequent this guy’s page a lot, since he seems to have a level headed logic to him compared to typical conservatives.

For non political blogs, I got to this one, since it’s kind of related to my profession.

  3. SSP, 538, Political Wire, Senate Guru, TPMDC.

Some more single issue ones that I visit are Minnesota Progressive Project (state blog I write for), The Cable (foreign policy), Future Majority (youth politics) and Ezra Klein (healthcare).

  4. Though as an atheist myself I’ve been known to read and post about politics on the website http://www.ex-christian.net/

Lots of very intelligent people there.  Some good discussions about not just religion but politics as well.  The posters there tend to be more in the mode of libertarian/socially progressive rather than liberals though, so I’m in the minority there.

  5. Political aside from SSP:

My own blog of course, which is in my signature

    Calitics

    HuffPo

    Cagle.com

    Fellow SSP poster Mark’s blog

    All Hat No Cattle

Election Projection, another rare sane conservative blog

    Non-Political:

VILE Headquarters – Carmen Sandiego forum; we mostly talk about the old game show and write fictional episodes of our own

Tales From Band Camp – band nerds like myself need our fix!

I also visit video sites including YouTube, DailyMotion, and Veoh mostly to watch uploaded videos of my favorite shows, new and old!

  6. SSP is at the top of my favorites and the first and last I check every day.  In between I check:

    TG Political Wire/CQ Politics

    538

    TPM

    Senate Guru

    Congress Matters

For interesting conservative commentary thats usually not crazy, I check the Ripon Forum.

  7. And Calitics and Blue Commonwealth.  I live and work in CA and my closest friends live in VA.  Also, I travel to VA on business so I like to keep up on VA politics as well.

  8. Thanks so much everyone for great ideas, a lot of those sites are on my lists as well, I just didn’t mention them. I just forget a lot of these sites a lot. I appreciate all the ideas, and hope everyone also got some good ideas, oh, and if you’re looking for sane conservative Chad, Andrew Sullivan’s Daily Dish is pretty good. He’s critical of everyone, so that makes it sane I guess, if you’re a glass is half empty like you and I both seem to be! haha

  9.    I’m generally reading that blog at all non-working times of the day…I know, I read Open Left AND hold a job at the same time!  Astonishing.

  10. Political:

    SSP

    Political Wire

    538

    Senate Guru

    TPM (occasionally)

    Non-political:

    TheForce.net

    TheOneRing.net

    joblo.com (film discussion site)

    FirstShowing.net (see above)

    ComingSoon.net (see above)

IMDb.com (great for movie info, but way too many trolls)

  11. I should get back to visiting SenateGuru, but I’ve had less time than before.

I once visited ElectionProjection.com as well, and yes, I gotta agree, it is a rare sane conservative site.  His prediction methodology is praised by the guy who runs Electoral-Vote.com.

I need to get around to reading five thirty eight as well.

Apart from these sites, I also frequent some other fora, such as the TV Tropes fora and Caves of Narshe.  And I follow a few webcomics, including Dudley’s Dungeon (both currently-running versions).
